AGM Changes on 26th June 2021

I am sure it will come as no surprise following the Governments announcement on Monday we have to restructure our AGM on 26th June.  I am really disappointed to have to do this as I am sure you are but in light of the extension of Covid restrictions I feel we have no choice. I am sincerely sorry, we are adapting for the safety of all.

I plan instead to conduct our AGM on Zoom, (hopefully the last Scout event we will need to run on Zoom), with my promise that next year will be different and better!  It has been a tough year for all of us and keeping Scouting going over the last 18 months is a testament to the dedication of all of our leaders so even though we can’t all be at the same place at the same time I hope you can join us to show your appreciation to them for giving the children something to look forward to each week through the Schools shutdown which I know they all found difficult.

We will hold our Zoom AGM at 5pm on Saturday 26th June, it will involve us sharing our annual Video showing what the children have been up to.

Family Day on the Farm 26th June 2021

With lockdown coming to its end on Monday 21st June we thought it would be a great opportunity to have a Family day where we can all get together safely and celebrate having made it through the Epidemic!

On Saturday 26th June, Heathfield Farm in Broadclyst have invited us to spend the afternoon with them on the Farm working with some of their team members.  This will be a low key event where we can still maintain our social distance if we wish, it wont cost anything but will help to bring back the sense of community which we have all missed out on over the last 18 months.  Our event is open to all Family members from all generations so come and spend a few hours out in the open with us.

Our plan is a follows:

2:00pm – Arrive at the Farm to help out in small family groups, please bring some gardening tools with you to help, (Spades, Forks, Gardening Gloves etc) and hopefully plenty of Sun Cream!

4:30pm – Our AGM will take place in the Barn on site

5:30pm – Picnic Tea, please bring your own Picnic lunch to enjoy on the Lawn, (if the weather isn’t great then we may re-locate back into the Barn.

6:15pm – Camp Fire using the Farms own Campfire circle we can come together for some Campfire songs and fun!

7:30pm – Make our way home!

You will need to bring:

  • Sun Hats and Sun Cream, (but maybe a raincoat as well)
  • Picnic Blanket or Camping Chairs
  • Plenty of fluids and Picnic for dinner
  • Gardening tools & gloves

While there is no cost for the event in order to maintain a degree of social distancing it would be useful to gauge an idea of numbers.  Please click here to fill in our quick reply.

Cubs need you!

We are on the look out for new Leaders.

There are lots of ways to volunteer, why not give back by spending time helping to teach our children new skills.  We are after:

  1. Shoe lace tiers
  2. Game players
  3. Tidy uppers
  4. Activity Planners
  5. Tea makers
  6. Spreadsheet fillers

You don’t have to be Bear Grylls to be a Scout Leader. Just a few hours and an appetite for fun!

Our particular focus at the moment is with our 8 to 10 year old Cubs.  You don’t have to be a parent to get involved just a wish to help out and work in our Leadership team.

Email us using the button at the top of the page and we can see how you can get involved.

St Georges Day 2021

St Georges Day 2021

This is always a big day on the Scouting calendar.  Not only is St George the patron saint of England but he also is Patron Saint of the Scouting movement.  This year will of course be a little different though, while we are getting close to waving goodbye to Covid restrictions we are not quite there yet.  After learning lessons from last years hastily put together virtual St Georges day, this year we are hosting the whole event on Facebook!

Our celebration will take place at 3 pm on Sunday 25th April 2021 and join in just Click here

As we did last year, we would like to encourage all of our members to ‘Hang out your Scarf’ on the day and brighten up Heavitree with loads of Red and White Scarves.
